At “El Azteca Restaurante Mexicano” it’s hard to differentiate between what is calliente (hot) and pica (spicy) because you are served a heaping portion of both. The food comes out in about five minutes; which gives you barley enough time to make a small dent in their unlimited chips and salsa basket. All of “El Azteca’s “ dishes fall under the title of “authentic Mexican food” and range from the simple; burritos, enchiladas, quesadilla’s to the complex; fajitas Vallarta (grilled shrimp and scallops). But all dishes are recognizable and tasty. My favorite happens to be the quesadilla fajita; who some genius decided to create. The dish combines a cheesy crispy flour tortilla, with grilled chicken and vegetables. “El Azteca’s” bar staff are also quite talented. I have enjoyed many a pina colada (virgin of course!) which is just the sweet and sugary complement to a hot and spicy enchilada. The prices of these dishes vary from a dollar fifty a taco to twenty dollars for a sizzling big enough for two fajita plate. “El Azteca” offers “combination plates “(consisting of rice, beans, and a main dish) at both lunch and dinner to give the diner more variety.
“El Azteca” has a cozy atmosphere with family-style dining; booth or cafeteria. To add ambiance Univision murmurs quietly in the background. On the walls beautiful hand painted murals of Mexican landscapes peek out behind sombreros and folk art. No space is wasted, on the walls or on the plates each piled so high that everyone has to take something to go. Eat at E Azteca and you will leave full, satisfied, and with a little salsa in your step.
