On May 26, 2012, R-MC president Robert R. Lindgren introduced Yvonne W. Brandon ’76, Ed.D., Superintendent of Richmond (VA) Public Schools, who delivered a motivational commencement address to 242 Randolph-Macon College graduates, their families, alumni, faculty and staff during the 2012 Commencement Ceremony at the Frank E. Brown Campus Fountan Plaza.
The Richmond Public School district serves more than 24,000 students in 29 elementary schools, nine middle schools and eight high schools. Brandon previously served as interim superintendent before her appointment to lead the district in 2009. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Randolph-Macon in 1976, a master’s degree in guidance counseling from Virginia State University and a doctorate in educational supervision and administration from Nova Southeastern University.
