Questions:
-
What led you to apply for the A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program for Ordained Ministry?
I felt a call to some form of full time ministry. My interests in ministry opportunities was broad and continues to broaden as I learn more about the history and range of services the church carries out.
-
What do you like most about the college?
I like most what the college has been in the past, its historical richness, and founding beliefs.
-
What is it like being a participant in the Bailey program?
It is hard to live up to the standards and expectations of the church, the school, and one’s piers; trying to maintain a 3.0 GPA has been stressful lately. But the tuition being paid for helps to take off a bit of the strain since I don’t need another job.
-
What makes R-MC special for you?
My job in Special collections is perhaps one of the most meaningful things that Randolph-Macon itself has contributed to my life. It provides an avenue for exploring the past of the Methodist Church and Randolph Macon itself.
-
What are your future vocational plans?
It was a hard question to answer when not yet out of high school, and an even harder one to answer now. Ministry opportunities within the United Methodist church are widespread and still I am not sure which area would be best for me. Working with children, the disabled, poor, or elderly or mission work would be rewarding. In some form or another, I have always wished to help those who have had a smaller voice in their respective societies.
