The A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program for Ordained Ministry
The A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program for Ordained Ministry is designed to encourage students who express an interest in a Christian vocation involving pursuing a career in ordained ministry. Scholarships are awarded to a limited number of selected students each year based on several criteria.
Students selected for this program receive half-tuition scholarships for the first two years and full tuition, room and board for the next two years, mentoring, meetings and activities with other Bailey's scholars, and assistance in fulfilling the requirements leading to ordination in the United Methodist Church. Two internships are also provided during their college career, one which is academic focused and another which includes a stipend for work in a ministry setting.
