R-MC’s Equestrian Club welcomes students from all equestrian disciplines and at every level of experience from beginner to advanced.
Founded in 1830, Randolph-Macon College is a private, co-educational liberal arts college in Ashland, Virginia known for its science programs like psychology, economics, biology, and sociology. R-MC has a tight-knit community of around 1400 students and prides itself on being located in the heart of Virginia’s horse country.
The Randolph-Macon College Equestrian Club, established in 2010, is a vital part of the college community. The club helps its members in ways that go far beyond their education, like building relationships, honing life-skills, developing campus community, and helping students gain greater exposure and experience in equestrian competitions and training. Click on the links below, where four of the members share their experiences about the college and the Equestrian Club first-hand.
Eliza, a freshman who came to R-MC in part because of the sense of community the campus created—even in an individualized sport such as competitive horseback riding.
Erin, a now-sophomore at Randolph-Macon College who moved across the country to continue her equestrian competitions and training, but found just as many opportunities in her academic field.
Madlen, a junior-status student who, even though she has ridden her entire life, continues to learn from the broad variety of riders and the experience they bring to the Equestrian Club.
Amanda, an R-MC senior who has relied on her time with the Equestrian Club to de-stress and help her finish her Chemistry degree strong.
