Emerging Leaders Weekend

Leadership Fellows completing the Orientation Experience, get geared up for an exciting weekend of co-curricular experiences that will teach you about leadership, Randolph-Macon College, the Leadership Fellows Program, and other first-year Leadership Fellows. You will have the opportunity to stay in on-campus housing, learn the fundamentals of leadership that will get you started in the Leadership Fellows Program, meet upper-class Leadership Fellows, and much much more!

First-year Leadership Fellows are encouraged to participate in the Emerging Leaders Weekend in their first year if at all possible. All Leadership Fellows must participate prior to completing the program.

The Leadership Fellows Program is fortunate to partner with the BB&T Leadership Institute to produce Emerging Leaders Weekend.  In addition to stellar training provided by Randolph-Macon College staff and students, Emerging Leaders Weekend participants also receive the BB&T Emerging Leaders Certification.  The program focuses on self-efficacy, self-regulation, and personal development and growth.

When is Emerging Leaders Weekend?

Emerging Leaders Weekend will be held Friday, July 21 - Sunday, July 23, 2017. 

What's the Scoop?

Registration

Registration will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM in Brock Commons Lobby.

Parking

There should be plenty of parking near the residence halls and on the street.

Accommodations and Food

You will have the opportunity to stay in Andrews Hall during the Emerging Leaders Weekend. You will be assigned a roommate for the weekend. All of your meals will be provided for you from 12:00 PM on Friday through the conclusion of the weekend at 11:00 AM on Sunday. Cost

The registration fee for Emerging Leaders Weekend is $50.00. This fee covers food, lodging, and instruction for the Emerging Leaders Weekend. If you have an emergent financial need, contact James McGhee, Assistant Dean of Students, at jamesmcghee@rmc.edu or 804.752.7318 as there are a limited number of scholarships available. The registration fee should be paid at registration on July 21, 2017.

Schedule

The ELW program begins on Friday at Noon and concludes on Sunday at 10:30 AM. You will be involved in a variety of activities throughout the weekend. A detailed schedule will be provided at check-in.

What Should I Bring?

Leadership Fellows participating in Emerging Leaders Weekend will be staying in on-campus residential housing. It is recommended that you bring the following:

  • Sleeping Bag or Extra Long Twin Sheets and Comforter
  • Pillow
  • Shower Shoes
  • Towel
  • Wash Cloth
  • Umbrella (just in case)
  • Toiletries
  • Alarm Clock
  • Sunscreen
  • Sun Glasses
  • Casual Clothes (Shorts, T-shirts, polos, etc.)
  • Notebook
  • Pens/Pencils
  • An item that best describes your personality
