R-MC Women's Swimming Named Academic All-American Team for Fall 2006
On the strength of a team GPA of 3.0 for the fall of 2006, the Randolph-Macon swim team has earned Academic All-American status from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Fourteen members of the ODAC Champion Yellow Jacket squad earned at least a 3.0 for the fall semester. Six R-MC swimmers, Shafer Busch, Marlene Graf, Hayley Keenan, Michelle Markwith, Maureen McLaughlin and Heather Porter garnered a 3.5 or above. For her efforts, Porter will be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in April, as just announced by the College

R-MC Women's Swimming Named Academic All-American Team for Spring 2006
The Randolph-Macon College women's swimming team has been named Academic All-American for the spring 2006 semester by the College Swim Coaches Association of America. With a 2.82 team grade point average, the Yellow Jackets earned a "commendable" rating. The team also earned this rating in the Fall 2005 and Fall 2004 terms.
Individually, several Randolph-Macon swimmers had grade point averages over 3.50 for the semester. They included: freshman Shafer Busch, sophomore Randi Smith, and junior Heather Porter.
March 2006

R-MC senior swimmer Erin Ewalt earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200 backstroke at the 2006 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming Championships March 11th. December 2005
R-MC's Erin Ewalt was named the ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time this year for her performance Friday and Saturday, December 2nd and 3rd. The only senior and captain on a very young team, Ewalt led Randolph-Macon College to a first-place finish in the women’s standings of her team’s two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational. She tied for first place in individual points, with 48 from victories in three events. Ewalt won the 400 individual medley (4:46.10), the 100 backstroke (1:01.94), and the 200 back (2:10.81). She was also on three first-place relay teams – the 200 medley relay (Estes Pool record of 1:54.23), the 200 free relay (1:43.78), and the 400 free relay (3:5.00). Her times in all three of her individual events were Randolph-Macon’s fastest for the season.
November 2005
Freshman Shafer Busch became the third member of R-MC's women's swimming team to be named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week this year. She was honored for her performance on Saturday, November 19th, as she helped the Yellow Jackets to wins over Randolph-Macon Woman's College and Guilford College. Busch placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:01.53), and was also on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:56.54) and 200 free relay team (1:43.92). Her time in the 100 fly and both of those relay times were the fastest posted in the ODAC so far this season. R-MC improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the ODAC with those victories.
R-MC sophomore Maureen McLaughlin was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for her performance on Friday, November 11th, 2005. She helped the Yellow Jackets to ODAC wins over Emory & Henry College and host Sweet Briar College. McLaughlin won two individul events -- the 50-meter freestyle (:29.60) and the 100 free (1:05.15). Her time in the 50 free was her best for the season.
October 2005
R-MC senior Erin Ewalt was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for her performance on Saturday, October 29th, 2005. Ewalt, the only senior and captain on a Randolph-Macon College team with just two juniors and loaded with freshmen and sophomores this year, won three individual events in a meet with host St. Mary's College (Md.) and Marymount University. She was first in the 1000 freestyle with a school and pool-record time of 10:58.13. Ewalt also won the 200 individual medley (2:16.98) and the 100 backstroke (1:02.71). Those two times were also pool records in the brand new facility at St. Mary's.

R-MC junior Erin Ewalt has been named the 2005 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year, while sophomore Sarah Swann was named the ODAC co-Rookie of the Year.
The R-MC women's swimming team finished second in the ODAC/Atlantic States Championships at Radford University in Radford, Virginia February 18-20.
