Yellow Jackets Pick Up Road Win Over Sweet Briar 2-0
Sweet Briar, VA –Randolph-Macon College scored once in each half to secure a 2-0 ODAC road win over Sweet Briar College Wednesday afternoon in women’s soccer action.
Kendall Kirtley notched her first goal of the season when she beat SBC keeper Kristen Johnson just 6:46 into the match.
The score remained 1-0 nothing until the 73rd minute of play when MaryCarol Davis set up Beth Blendell for her team-leading fourth goal of the season, giving the Yellow Jackets a two goal cushion.
Heather Bleile and Mary Jocelyn split time in net to share the shut out, with Bleile making two stops in the second-half to preserve the victory.
R-MC (3-7-0, 3-3-0 ODAC) out shot the home standing Sweet Briar (2-8-0, 0-6-0 ODAC) club 26-2 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Guilford College in a 1:00 p.m. ODAC match.
