R-MC's Matt Garofalo Named to First-Team All-ODAC Men’s Soccer Squad
SALEM , VA – Randolph-Macon College’s Matt Garofalo has been named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men’s Soccer First-Team All-Conference squad as the league announced its yearly awards Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets’ Pete Hanley also garnered all-conference honors by being named an honorable mention selection.
A senior midfielder, Garofalo (Great Falls, Va./Bishop O'Connell) started all 18 matches this season from R-MC, posting three goals and three assists for nine points which ranked second on the Yellow Jacket squad.
“This is a well deserving award for a player that has worked hard for his entire four years at Randolph-Macon, “ said second-year R-MC head coach Pete McEvoy. “I’m very happy Matt was recognized this way. During is first three years he was over shadowed by a talented group of upperclassman. His hard work paid off and was recognized by the other ODAC coaches as one of the most dangerous offensive talents in the league.”
Hanley (Chester, Va./Benedictine) is a sophomore midfielder that appeared in 16 matches, finishing just behind Garofalo on the team scoring list with eight points on three goals and two assists.
Randolph-Macon closed out the season with a 6-12-0 overall record and a 3-6-0 ODAC record, advancing to the league tournament quarterfinals.
