Debuts at No. 21 in Golfstat National Rankings
ASHLAND,
VA -- The Randolph-Macon College golf team has been tabbed as the 21st
best team in the nation by Golfstat.com in its statistical
rankings released Friday.
The
Yellow Jackets, whose best showing this season came at the Ted Keller
Invitational where it finished second on its home links at Hunting Hawk
Golf Course.
R-MC
followed up that performance with a ninth-place showing at the Greensboro
Invitational and a 11th place finish at the very competitive Tom O’Briant
Tournament hosted by Guilford College.
“It
is an early season ranking but one that we intend on honoring with each
day of practice and every tournament round we play,” said R-MC
head coach Jeff Burns.
Senior
Ryan Bishop (75.3) and junior Nick Fallon (75.8) lead R-MC in scoring
average.
The
Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Sunday and Monday when they
take part in the Virginia State Tournament at Nansemond River Golf Course
in Suffolk, Va.
