The Randolph-Macon cheerleading squad recently capped off its competitive season with a second-place showing at the Easter Cheerleading Association's (the nation's 3rd largest cheerleading company) National Competition that was held in Williamsburg over the weekend of March 15th and 16th.
Cheerleaders from all ages and ability levels compete for the national champion title in their divisions. R-MC’s division was "College/Open" and because the competition organizers put the two categories together, it put R-MC up against a squad much larger, comprised of a higher ratio of males/females, and its members are cheer instructors as opposed to college students.
“I am tremendously proud of this group of nine, given that we have to find time to practice around members busy schedules away from cheering,” said R-MC Head Coach Susan Cassidy. “We dealt with significant injuries and illnesses along the way as well. Our group supported each other through it all and made a solid commitment to take Randolph-Macon's Cheerleading squad to a new level of performance and professionalism.”
The R-MC team members are Captains: Danielle Nogle and Jerry Kelly, Joel Bolton (Buzz) Rachel Jeter, Saskia Alemar, Tim Marconi, Jordan Turner, Bethany Floyd, Cara Copeman and Denise Mosely
