DEADLINES: SEMESTER/YEAR ABROAD PROGRAMS
The number of students we can accept into semester abroad programs is limited. Thus, for a student's application to receive full consideration it must be submitted by the appropriate deadline.
Randolph-Macon students:
- November 28, 2007 - For ISEP and the Irish-American Scholars Program beginning in fall 2008.
- February 15, 2008 - For all other semester/year programs beginning in fall 2008 and spring 2009.
Also note the additional deadlines below.
ADDITIONAL DEADLINES: Many of our semester/year abroad programs require students to submit a second application directly to the overseas institution or program provider. For more information contact the Office of International Education.
NOTE: Our office may consider applications and supporting materials received after the deadlines, but only if we have openings in our semester abroad program, the overseas institution is still accepting applications, and there is sufficient time for orientation sessions to be conducted at R-MC.
DEADLINES: J-TERM STUDY/TRAVEL COURSES
Although students must apply to participate in a semester abroad program, applications are not used with study/travel courses, usually taught during the four-week January term (J-term). Instead, after consulting with their advisors, students preregister for study/travel courses through the Registrar's Office, just as they do for other J-term and spring semester classes.
PREREQUISITES: Some study/travel courses have prerequisites that students must meet in order to take the class. Consult course descriptions in Randolph-Macon's Academic Catalog for more information about a course's prerequisites, if any.
CONTACT THE INSTRUCTOR: Faculty members hold organizational meetings and orientation sessions with students, sometimes months before travel courses begin. So if you preregister for a study/travel course, contact the faculty member teaching the class, let him or her know you plan to take it, and give the instructor your telephone number(s), e-mail address(es), and mailing addresses (home and college) so he or she can contact you about meetings prior to the start of J-term.
ORIENTATION: All participants in study/travel courses are required to attend an orientation session run by the Office of International Education. Several orientation session are scheduled each fall for students who plan to take a study/travel course in the J-term. Students may select which orientation session to attend—but they must attend one.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Randolph-Macon students who have a current FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form on file with the college's Financial Aid office can apply to the Office of International Education for funds to help pay the cost of their participation in study/travel courses offered through the college.
