The story of Team Bourbon Street
You did what?!?
|
Our work in New Orleans ranged from clearing out peoples’ belongings (furniture, clothes, books, appliances, and other various things) from their homes to ripping out drywall, flooring, and cabinetry.
Most of the homes we worked on had to be stripped to their bare bones because there was so much water damage. In a few cases, we also put up the infamous blue tarps on roofs to patch leaks.
Most of us became pretty skilled in one area or another, whether it was removing plumbing and heating units (Luke), ripping out drywall and insulation (Richie), sweeping, loading and unloading the wheelbarrow (Elisabeth), removing nails, removing furniture, removing flooring (Lauren) and perhaps most importantly, talking/listening to the homeowner (De).
