I received a letter from the school the other day inquiring what I am up to
so I thought I would respond. First off how are all of you? It is weird to say
that I miss physics class. Compared to the real world, class was a breeze. I
am married now, living north of Baltimore. I have been with the Baltimore County
Police Department for 4 years now. Hopefully soon I will leave the patrol life
of an officer and go to our "crash team". It is a unit that deals
solely with automobile crashes with life threatening injuries or fatalities.
They investigate the crash scene and reconstruct the events prior to and after
the crash. So far I have taken 2 of the 3 crash investigation courses offered.
They go over such things as conservation of energy and linear momentum. It teaches
how to calculate speeds of vehicles using the skids marks left behind. Other
courses go into the calculation of speed using the energy needed to deform metal
in certain areas of a vehicle, Really interesting stuff. Just to let you know
the whole physics department prepared me well for this type of investigation.
The courses that I have taken have been actually enjoyable because I was able
to use the techniques I learned at rmc.
I hope everything is going well down there.
Sincerely,
