Introduction to African-American Literature
Course Description
A survey of writing by African-Americans from the 18th to 20th centuries,
covering early texts, poetry and speeches, narratives of slavery
and escape, abolition, the Reconstruction era, the Harlem Renaissance,
the Black Arts movement and contemporary black writers. Prerequisite:
ENGL 251 or 252. Offered alternate years.
