Q. How can we afford Randolph-Macon? What is
the tuition?
A. At Randolph-Macon we are committed to helping families
bridge the gap between family resources and college expenses by
offering a comprehensive program of financial aid and financial
aid services. Forty-seven percent of our students receive financial
aid based on need, and another forty percent receive non-need-based
awards. The income range of applicants for financial aid who were
offered need-based aid is $2,000 - $210,000, with an average income
of $70,600.
The College also offers financial assistance to students without
need. Through academic scholarships, tuition payment plans, parent
loans, campus employment, and other College programs, Randolph-Macon
helps students finance their college education. In addition, Randolph-Macon
offers family grants to those families enrolling two or more children
simultaneously.
More comprehensive information about the financial aid opportunities
at Randolph-Macon may be found in the financial aid booklet sent
to all applicants. You may also call the Financial Aid Office at
(804) 752-7259. For information regarding tuition and fees, please view the tuition page on our website by clicking here.
Q. When must I pay the reservation deposit?
A. New students accepted under the College’s regular
admissions plan have until May 1 before starting in the fall to
pay the $300 deposit. The deposit is refundable in full for written
cancellations received by May 1. No refunds are authorized after
May 1. A $300 pre-registration fee is required by March 30 for returning
students.
Q. When are payments due for 1st
and 2nd semester?
A. Typically, first semester payment is due in early August.
The second semester payment is due by December 1.
Q. Is it possible to make payments of College
fees on a scheduled or deferred basis?
A. Through the Randolph-Macon College Ten-Month Payment
Plan, families have the option of meeting expenses in convenient
monthly payments over a ten-month period with no interest or finance
charge. In addition, there are several commercial loan plans through
which parents may borrow all or part of the year’s tuition,
fees, room and board, and then repay the loan in regular installments.
Randolph-Macon provides the names and addresses of these companies
to parents early in the summer, well before the beginning of the
fall term.
Q. How much money should we plan to allow for
books and spending money?
A. A typical student may expect to spend about $1,000 per
year for books and supplies. An additional $1,500 per year is a
reasonable estimate for clothing, cleaning, recreation, travel,
and personal expenses.
Q. Are there opportunities for students to find
part-time work on or near the campus?
A. Many of our students have part-time jobs on campus -
averaging 8-10 hours per week; in addition, many local businesses
and merchants in Ashland (most within walking distance of the campus)
offered part-time employment to Randolph-Macon students.
Q. What facilities are available for student
banking and check cashing?
A. There are several financial establishments in Ashland,
and most are within walking distance of campus. Be sure to talk
to a representative from each bank to make sure that your banking
needs are met. Often, banks offer different programs and some may
be better suited for you than others. A list of nearby banks includes:
