As parents, we have a front row seat in observing how Randolph-Macon helps our children grow intellectually, socially and emotionally. We have seen firsthand the benefits of a liberal arts education. Whether your child has a broader view of the world, an increased ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, a keen appreciation of math and the sciences, or a new-found discovery of his or her athletic, musical or dramatic talents, I bet you have seen tremendous growth in the time your child has been an R-MC student. If you are the parent of an incoming freshman student, you are in for an exciting year as your child takes this first step toward autonomy. This holistic education takes resources, and I hope you will join us in supporting the Parents Fund.
As Chair of the Parents Board of Directors, I am excited to announce the 2011-2012 Randolph-Macon Parent Challenge. An anonymous family makes this generous challenge to Randolph-Macon parents because they recognize the extraordinary impact parent gifts have in providing the life-changing experiences I describe. The donors challenge us to increase both the number of gifts to the Parents Fund and our levels of giving by matching every parent gift dollar for dollar up to $1,499 and a double match above $1,500, up to a total of $25,000. To qualify for this match, your gift or pledge must be received by December 31. Every gift counts.
