Mentoring Opportunities / Advocacy Services
Gender Resource Center Director, Shalise Bates-Pratt, offers mentoring to students who are seeking support, education, information and resources related to their personal and professional issues. In the event that a student needs additional supportive assistance and advocacy, this can also be provided on a case by case basis. This service is free and open to both men and women. Appointments are not necessary but are recommended (x3205).
Below are a few examples of topics that the Gender Resource Center can help you get more information about:
1. Issues related to gender/ women’s studies course offerings. 2. Gender issues and leadership on/off campus. 3. Gender/women’s career and internship choices. 4. Who to go to about discrimination based on gender on campus. 5. Sexual harassment, Sexual assault. 6. Dating /Relationship violence issues, Unhealthy Relationships. 7. Ideas about programs and events that deal with gender issues. 8. Ideas about programs and events that promote cross gender understanding.
Office hours are Monday- Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm and by appointment in the Gender Resource Center, located in Room 204, upstairs in the Brown Campus Center.
