WHAT IS THE WOMEN OF COLOR DISCUSSION GROUP ABOUT?

WOC group members celebrating a completed year of group sessions.
The Women of Color (WOC) Discussion Group is designed to create connections amongst women who have faced similar experiences in the world and on campus to discuss issues that are relevant to women of color at Randolph-Macon and the larger community.
It can also be a chance to make new friends, and to look for solutions to basic issues in your personal, academic and social life on and off of campus. This group is NOT a class, it is NOT a counseling group and it is NOT a regular student club or organization. It is a supportive service of the Gender Resource Center, and weekly group discussions vary in topic/format, and centers on discussion and opinion.
Topics discussed in past sessions include: family relationships, cultural identity, sexism and racism, women as leaders, romantic relationships, self-awareness, physical/emotional health and self-esteem.

During these activities, various group activities, special discussions, and multimedia presentations assist students in closing out their year with positivity, and is an opportunity to further build sisterhood amongst the women of color at R-MC, while simultaneously providing an opportunity for relaxation.

WOC Group discussions are held weekly during the fall and spring semesters, on Wednesdays at 5:30pm. The group is typically held upstairs in the Brown Campus Center, in either the Yellow Jacket Conference Room or Koffman Gallery.
