WHAT IS WOMEN ATHELETES OUTREACH?
Women Athlete's Outreach (WAO) is a Randolph-Macon College student organization designed to encourage female athletes to use their positive influence for the promotion of high self-esteem and the prevention of high risk behavior in women and girls.

Women Athlete's Outreach (WAO) is a Randolph-Macon College student organization designed to encourage female athletes to use their positive influence for the promotion of high self-esteem and the prevention of high risk behavior in women and girls.
WAO MISSION
The Mission of WAO is to reach out to Randolph-Macon College, community organizations, schools and other groups to help educate young women about the importance of high self-esteem and the dangers of high-risk behavior. WAO will act as positive role models who encourage women of younger generations to get involved in their schools and community organizations. WAO also works to bring the women athletes of Randolph-Macon together in order to supports athletics/ co-curricular activities in general, and in particular, Women's Athletics and gender related organizations and activities on campus.
WAO ACTIVITIES/EVENTS
WAO stays busy throughout the year with various community service and on campus events. WAO also strongly supports athletics and co-curricular events that support gender education and/or women's issues. Some examples are below:
MOVIE NIGHTS
WAO has sponsored movie viewings and discussions geared to educating the community about issues that women athletes face, including the films, A League of Their Own, Playing Unfair: The Media Image of the Female Athlete, and many more.
KIDS ZONE SPONSORS (in conjunction with Athletics Department)
During the Randolph-Macon College football season, WAO members volunteer to assist parents in giving a space for their children to have fun in safety during games.
GIRL SCOUTS FIELD DAYS
WAO is an official Girl Scouts sponsor, and completed their first major "Field Day" with 6 local troops in November of 2007, teaching young ladies about sportsmanship, fitness and nutrition.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
1st Annual Campus-Wide Spring Formal (in conjunction with Campus Activities Board)
Appreciation Dinner in honor of the Women's Basketball Team
Take Back the Night Rally & March (organized by Macon Peer Response)
