Publishing Videos through Sitecore

These instructions should allow you to upload a publish an FLV video through Sitecore.

Uploading your FLV file to Sitecore.

1. Log in to Sitecore
   
2. Switch to the Media Library View
   
   
3. In the folder view, navigate to a folder you control.
   
4. With a folder selected (this folder will soon contain your FLV) click the Advanced Upload button.
   
   
5. In the Advanced Upload window, check the ‘Upload as Files’ checkbox. Please use this option only for this process.
   
6. In the Advanced Upload window, select ‘Browse…’
   
   
7. Select the *.flv file that you want to upload and click ‘Ok’.
   
8. In the Advanced Upload window, click ‘Upload’ to upload this FLV.
   
   
9. Your FLV should now be uploaded to the Sitecore media library. Double click the FLV item you have just uploaded under ‘Uploaded Media Items’. This will open the sitecore content editor for that item.
   
   
10. Select the text in the ‘File Path’ field. Copy this text, as it will be used in the following steps. Then close this editor page. Also close the ‘Batch Upload’ window.
    

Posting an FLV to a Sitecore page

1. Switch to the Content Editor view
   
   
2. We suggest that you create a new page in a directory you control. For more detailed instructions on this step, see the introductory Sitecore documentation.
   
3. Open the Web Page Content editor for your new page.
   
4. Switch to HTML view.
   
5. Paste the following code into the HTML editor:

6. Replace the highlighted text with the file path you copied from step j above.
   
7. Modify the pasted code by pasting the text you copied in the previous step over the text highlighted above.
   
8. Click ‘Approve’ to apply these changes.
   
9. Save and Publish this document (and Approve if necessary).

Success! You should now be able to view this video by navigating your web browser to this new page.
