"Featured People" will show up near the bottom of Landing Pages. They illustrate some of the accomplishments of students and graduates who have chosen to major in the field the landing page depicts.
To create a new featured person, expand the folder titled "Globals" in Sitecore, which is the next subfolder under "Content", after "Home". Right-click on "Featured People", click "New", and then click "Featured Person".
The image above shows the first four fields that should be filled out on the new Featured Person page.
The field labeled "Name" (1) will not display anything on the website. It should still be consistent with the name of the person based on their article and photograph.
The field labeled "Photo" (2) will display the chosen photograph to the left of the featured person's Blurb and headline. The photograph is selected through the use of the Media Library in Sitecore.
The field labeled "Headline" (3) will appear exactly as typed above the Featured Person's blurb. This text will be bold and slightly larger than the main body of their blurb, serving as a title or preface to their introduction.
The field labeled "Blurb" (4) will appear to the right of the chosen photo, and below the Headline (3) field. It can be formatted. Typically the Featured Person's name should be bolded as this may be the only indication of who they are, as the "Name" field does not appear, and sometimes the picture chosen might not have their named displayed on it.
The image above shows the last field in Sitecore that should be filled for all Featured Persons. This field is labeled "Majors", and will not be displayed on the Featured Persons section.
As each Landing Page is set up to represent a different major or minor, so must each Featured Person be associated with different academic fields to determine where they will appear. Featured People should be assigned academic fields based on their majors and minors at R-MC. To select an academic field, simply scroll down the list of academic fields, click on the one that you would like to add, and then click the right blue arrow button to add it to the "Selected" list. You may also click on a Major in the "Selected" list and click the left blue arrow button to remove it from the "Selected" list.
For each academic major or minor added in this way, this particular featured person will be in the pool to appear each time that landing page is loaded. For example, James Shewey above will have a chance to appear each time the History Landing Page is loaded. His chance to appear will be based on how many other Featured People have "History" selected in their profile.
After the page is created and edited, all that's left to do is to publish it and approve it. To do this, simply click the Publish tab at the top of the page. Then, click the "Publish" button. You will be asked to save your work, and then be asked if you are sure you want to publish the item. Once you have done this, click the review tab to check in/approve the new page, and it will be available to the public.
