All students that are required to take an alcohol education session, as a sanctioned through the R-MC judicial process, are required to complete the on-line College Alc course prior to their first session. The alcohol education session (s) will be conducted by the staff of the Counseling Center. Additional information and a paper and pencil alcohol audit will be supplied when a student signs-up for an alcohol education session at the Counseling Center.
If a student has taken the College Alc course for orientation, or as a part of another education program, she/he will be required to take the College Alc Refresher course when the judicial process mandates participation in an alcohol education session.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- Students will increase their knowledge of the effects of alcohol on their body based on personal risk factors.
- Students will be able to identify strategies that can be used to prevent alcohol-related harm from occurring to self and others.
- Students will see appropriate responses to alcohol-related situations modeled in the course videos.
- Students will reflect on their personal choices, including use, through on-line journals and other personal feedback mechanisms.
- Students will get a more accurate picture of the alcohol use and harm prevention behaviors of other college students.
GETTING STARTED: Directions for starting College Alc
- Go to http://rmc.lpserver.com
- Click the link on the right side of the page for "Don't have a username? Click here."
- Complete the registration form, using your new R-MC email address (firstnamelastname@students.rmc.edu). Your R-MC email address will be used as your username.
- Make note of your password and keep it in a safe place for use each time you access College Alc. Remember that your email address and password are case sensitive.
- At the bottom of the registration form, enter the Registration Code.
- Once you log on to the system, click on the College Alc program under the Course Catalog.
- To see the course description and objectives for College Alc, click on the Details icon.
- To launch the course, click on the Go icon.
- To launch the first lesson, click on the Go icon.
- Follow the instructions to take the confidential pretest survey and complete the course.
