Davies-Jackson Scholarship. Applications for the Davies-Jackson Scholarship are due by November 1, 2012.
A distinctive opportunity for an outstanding student, who is the first in his or her family to graduate from college, to participate in a course of study in the United Kingdom at St. John's College at Cambridge University, following his or her graduation. Recipients study one of the following subjects: Archaeology and Anthropology, Classics, Economics, English, Geography, History, History of Art, Modern and Medieval Languages, Music, Philosophy, or Social and Political Sciences. Fulbright Grant. The 2012-2013 Competition is now closed. U.S. government grants for one year of study in one of over 100 countries. U.S. citizen. Open to graduating seniors and graduate students.Several grants are available. Full grants cover one year if study in another country. Travel and foreign/ private grants are only available for certain countries; for this reason the amounts vary. Contact Dr. Bryan Giemza at x7246 for more information.
Ford Foundation Fellowship Program - Predoctorial and Postdoctoral competition is now closed.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award - For current seniors and recent graduates (those since 2006). The Foundation website notes, "The award enables students or recent alumni with exceptional artistic or creative promise and significant financial need to pursue up to three years of study at an accredited graduate institution in the U.S or abroad. Awards can be as much as $50,000 annually. In 2011, the Foundation will select 10 recipients for this award." To begin the process of identifying nominees, students or recent graduates interested must notify Joe Mattys, Faculty Representative, (804.752.4704) . Do not apply directly to the Foundation. This is an exceptional opportunity, and the College would be pleased to nominate two worthy applicants.
James Madison Graduate Fellowship. Applications for the James Madison Graduate Fellowship are currently open. Application Deadline: March 1, 2012. Please check the Web site for current information. U.S. citizens and U.S. nationals who demonstrate a commitment to civic responsibilities and to professional and collegial activities. Awards up to $12,000 maximum yearly with no more than $24,000 awarded for two years. Applicants are evaluated on their demonstrated commitment to a career teaching American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary school level and several related criteria. John L. Carey Scholarship. Applications for the John L. Carey Scholarship are now closed. For liberal arts students who plan to study graduate accounting and obtain CPA certificate. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, leadership and future career interest. Seven $5,000 scholarships awarded annually. Awards can be renewed for one year. Marshall Scholarship. Applications for the Marshall Scholarship are now closed. For two years of study in a degree program at any British university. U.S. citizen. Awards full tuition and fees, travel and living expenses. Apply within two years of graduation from undergraduate college. 3.7 GPA after freshman year. Fields unrestricted. National Science Foundation Please check the Foundation's Web site for upcoming due dates. For students "at or near the beginning of their graduate study" in science, mathematics or engineering. NSF applications are accepted in the senior year or first year of graduate study. U.S. citizen. Awards a $21,500 stipend for 12-month tenure; education costs allowance of $10,500 and a one time $1000 International Research Travel Allowance. Rhodes Scholarship. Applications for the Rhodes Scholarship are now closed. Funds two years of study in a degree program at the University of Oxford. Rhodes scholarships are available to nationals of 19 countries including the U.S. Fields unrestricted. U.S. citizens must be no older than 24 at the time of application.Covers full tuition and fees, awards living allowance, travel expenses and if desired research and grant monies. Barry Goldwater Scholarship. Applications for the 2012 Barry Goldwater Scholarship are open. Deadlines: Jan 27 through Feb 1, 2012. Please check website for specifics. For sophomores and juniors, designed to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. Morris K Udall Foundation. Applications for the 2012 UDALL Foundation Scholarship are open. Deadline for Faculty Representative to register students is March 2, 2012. Awards merit-based $5,000 scholarships to college sophomores and juniros who intend to pursue careers relating to the environment, or who intend to pursue careers in tribal public policy or Native American Health care and are Native American or Alaska Native.
