THE EDGE BOOT CAMP has been designed to help you develop the necessary skills for life after R-MC. The Camp is comprised of interactive sessions and one-on-one learning opportunities facilitated by nationally renowned topic experts.
We guarantee that those students who attend THE EDGE CAREER BOOT CAMP will have an “edge” over those who don’t!
EDGE CAMP GOALS :
Competence : Assess and align your values with your career ambitions and aspirations
Confidence : Master your interview strengths and manage your weaknesses
Communication : Develop your ability to succinctly state why YOU are the candidate of choice for employment, internship or graduate school
Connection : Participate in real-life networking scenarios with feedback from real-life interviewers
WHY ATTEND THE EDGE CAREER BOOT CAMP?
RESULTS :
You will leave the EDGE CAMP with a personalized and refined action plan for enhancing your future that you have developed in concert with professionals.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Participation is limited to 34 students. To apply, you must:
- Be a sophomore, junior or senior
- Be in good academic and judicial standing at the College
- Complete the application below in its entirety and submit by the deadline of October 31. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
TIME COMMITMENT :
The EDGE CAMP requires all participants to be available on Friday, January 4 at 2 p.m. through Saturday, January 5, 2013 9 p.m. at the Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel and Conference Center in Glen Allen, Virginia. All students transported by bus from R-MC to the Conference Center and return.
PROVISIONS :
- All transportation to and from R-MC, lodging, meals (dinner on Friday evening and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday) and course materials will be provided for participating students; students will be responsible for hotel incidentals.
- The EDGE BOOT CAMP is offered annually. A limited number of students will be accepted into this program and may only attend once.
EXPECTATIONS :
- All participants must commit to participate for the duration of the program and be actively engaged.
- Professional dress (coat/tie for men, suits for women) will be required for two sessions; business casual dress is appropriate for the remainder of the sessions.
- Rooms are double occupancy; you will be assigned a roommate.
- Once checked in, you may not leave the Conference Center.
- Outside visitors will not be permitted.
- Alcohol will be present at some of the sessions, only for age appropriate participants.
