Campus safety and security at Randolph-Macon College is a shared responsibility. Clearly, the best protection against campus crime is an aware, informed, alert campus community-administrators, faculty, staff, students, and visitors who use reason and caution can do much to aid the work of Campus Safety by sharing the responsibility to protect themselves and their property.
The vast majority of our students, faculty, staff and visitors do not experience crime at Randolph-Macon College. However, crime sometimes occurs despite our best efforts and yours. This information is provided because of our commitment to campus safety and security and in compliance with the Federal Campus Security Act of 1990 and the 1998 Amendments of this Act and The Campus Sex Crime Prevention Act. Questions or comments about the requirements of federal or state law or Randolph-Macon's compliance with these laws, should be directed to Kathryn A. The Office of Campus Safety is required to record certain categories of crimes that occur on and near the campus. In addition to crime information reported to the Colleges' authorities, Campus Safety also receives reports of criminal incidents from the Ashland Police Department. The report includes criminal incidents for the past three years and is distributed to the entire college community.
Additional copies are available upon requests in the Office of Campus Safety located at 203 Caroline Street. Criminal or suspicious acts and emergencies should be reported to Campus Safety immediately; in person, by telephone or by using one of the emergency call boxes strategically located around campus. We are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For emergencies dial 9-911 on campus or "0" for Campus safety. Randolph-Macon College Officers are not sworn police officers. We do not make arrests. The department maintains a continuing, cooperative relationship with Ashland Police Department and other area law-enforcement agencies. The department coordinates all requests for services for emergency response to fire, medical, criminal and other incidents.
