On Saturday, November 16, 2013, the Randolph-Macon College Athletic Department dedicated
the new Emby '86 and Woody '84 Staub Athletic Training Center in Alumni Gymnasium.
The dedication began with Jeff Burns '87, Athletic Director, "This project was critical
for our athletic program because it will directly impact each and every student-athlete
on our rosters. It will help us prevent injuries, promote health and wellness to
our students, and provide the best environment possible for rehabilitation and recovery."
Jack Luck '64, Chair of the Board of Trustees Committee on Athletics, spoke of the
impressive work of the athletic training staff in helping this project become a
reality before introducing President Robert Lindgren.
According to President Lindgren, "This Center symbolizes two very important things:
our commitment to the highest standard of care for student-athletes, be it rehabilitation
or injury preventation; and the unbelievable loyalty and generosity that exists
among Randolph-Macon's alumni and friends, generosity that manifests itself in impressive
facilities like the Staub Center."
President Lindgren's remarks were followed by a brief word from Heather Bauby, head
athletic trainer, who thanked the donors who made the project possible.
"My staff and I would like to specifically thank Buddy Allen and his wife Ann for
helping to get this project off the ground, Dr. Rick Meyers who has always been,
and continues to be, a constant supporter of Randolph-Macon Athletic Training and
Yellow Jacket Athletics, and Emby and Woody Staub for allowing our dream to become
a reality," said Bauby.
Emby '86 & Woody '84 Staub then reminisced about the size of the training room
during their time at Randolph-Macon and that they were excited about the project
because they could make an impact on the entire Athletics Department.
The ribbon cutting immediately followed the program with guests taking tours of
the new Center. The newly expanded and renovated center now boasts of more than
1,400 square feet which includes a new treatment room, administrative offices, doctor
examination room, additional rehabilitation space, new equipment and a polar plunge
