R-MC Women's Tennis Adavances to Second-Round of ODAC Tournament with Win Over Randolph Before Bowing out to Hollins
SWEET BRIAR, VA -- The Randolph-Macon College women’s tennis team advanced to the second-round of the 2008 ODAC Tournament with a 9-0 win over Randolph College on Friday morning, but lost to Hollins University later in the day at tournament host Sweet Briar College.
R-MC (9-6) lost just nine games as it swept through the singles competition against the WildCats. Windsor Tyler grabbed a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, Martha Vlahakis, Whitney Robinson, Jessica Bayne and Sara McKewen and Margret Giffen all picked up singles wins as well for the Jackets.
The Yellow Jackets bowed out of the tournament later in the day when they were knocked out by third-seeded Hollins 6-0. R-MC completes the season with a 9-8 record.
