Washington and Lee Trumps R-MC Women’s Soccer 4-1
ASHLAND, VA -- Anne Van Devender tallied one goal and assisted on the game-winner as the Washington and Lee women's soccer team posted a 4-1 win over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
After a scoreless first half, the Generals (3-1, 2-0) got on the board when Van Devender scored unassisted in the 59th minute. Randolph-Macon (2-4, 0-2) countered with a goal from Brittany Jones nine minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 with less than 24 minutes to play in the contest.
W&L's Katie Kern headed the ball into the net off a cross from Van Devender to give the Generals the lead for good at 70:54.
Washington and Lee posted a 31-2 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Generals Kiki Moreo played all 90 minutes in the net for W&L and did not register a save. Mary Jocelyn posted nine saves for R-MC in the loss.
