Three First-Half Strikes Sends R-MC Past Goucher 4-0
TOWSON, MD – The Randolph-Macon College Women’s Soccer team used three firs-half goals as they knocked off home standing Goucher 4-0 Wednesday afternoon. With the win, R-MC improves its record to 2-0 on the season while Goucher drops to 1-2.
Kendall Kirtley got R-MC on the scoreboard in the 24th minute when she notched her first goal of the 2007 season off a feed from Lacy Phelps.
Just over ten minutes later, Brittany Jones scored her second goal of the year to double R-
MC’s lead. A Jen Baird strike in the 41st minute sent the Yellow Jackets into the intermission with a 3-0 advantage.
Phelps closed out the scoring at the 56:55 with her second goal of the season on an assist from Tommie Gearhart.
Mary Jocelyn played just over 78 minutes, making six saves before giving way to China Bradley who made one stop in her 11:53 in net.
R-MC held an 18-11 advantage in shots while Goucher led in corner kicks 5-4.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to the Washington and Lee Invitational where they will take on Sewanee at 2:30.
