Four Yellow Jackets Earn All-ODAC Women’s Lacrosse Laurels; Phelps and Pomeroy Named to First-Team
ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon Women’s Lacrosse team had four of its players named to the All-ODAC teams as the league announced its yearly awards on Friday afternoon. Senior Lacy Phelps and sophomore Logan Pomeroy were named to the first-team, while freshman Erin Clare Cassidy and junior Morgan Hutchinson were second-team choices.
Phelps was a first-team pick at attack after leading the Yellow Jackets in scoring with a team best 42 points on 28 goals and 14 assists. Phelps also grabbed 31 ground balls and picked up 43 draw controls during the 2008 season.
Pomeroy was named first-team on defense after posting 36 ground balls on the season, while seizing a team-leading 47 draw controls during her sophomore campaign. Pomeroy also added 11 goals and one assists for 12 points on the offensive end.
Cassidy earned second-team honors at attack, finishing her first season in Ashland with 18 goals and a team-best 22 assist for 40 points.
Hutchinson had a team best 30 goals and adding five assists for 35 total points from her midfield position. Hutchinson also mustered 43 draw controls and a team-best 21 caused turnovers during 2008.
