WASHINGTON, D.C.—Catholic University knocked off visiting Randolph-Macon College 20-12 in non-conference women’s lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon in Washington, D.C.
Randolph-Macon jumped on the board quick with an unassisted goal from senior, Alex Wright.
The Cardinals fired back with five straight, including two from freshman, Meghan Sabo. The Jackets defense was then able to hold the Cardinals off for nine straight minutes until a huge save from goalkeeper, Lindsay Shabert led to a clear to midfielder, Lacy Phelps, that resulted a second goal by R-MC.
In the next two minutes of play, three straight fouls, all from different Yellow Jackets, resulted in three points on the board for CUA's Sabo.
The next draw control was successfully handled by R-MC's Wright that resulted in a goal by freshman attacker Erin Clare Cassidy.
The Cardinals then came back on the very next draw and put another point on the board, bringing the score to 9-3. Randolph-Macon then fired back with only 32 seconds to go in the half from a goal from freshman, Elyse Cooperto close out the half with CUA leading R-MC 9-4.
The second half saw many fouls on both teams and a pair of goals by Phelps, Wright, and Morgan Hutchinson and one each from Cooper and Amanda Rzucidlo.
