Big Second-Half Rally Sends Buffalo State past R-MC Women’s Lax 17-11

ASHLAND, VA – Buffalo State College scored 15 second half goals as it rallied from a halftime deficit and topped home standing Randolph-Macon College 17-11 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference women’s lacrosse action.
R-MC jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a pair of strikes from Morgan Hutchinson. The Bengals rallied to tie the game at two with 22:58 to go in the half. The Yellow Jackets then scored the final seven goals of the first stanza to take a 9-2 lead into intermission.
Buffalo State came out firing in the second half, scoring the first three goals to cut the Jackets advantage to 9-5. After Hutchinson put R-MC up 10-6 with 21 minutes to play, the Bengals reeled off 10 unanswered goals over the next 14 minutes to take command of the game 16-10.
Ashley O'Brien played just under 58 minutes in the cage for Buffalo State, making nine saves, while Lindsay Schabert made 11 stops in net for R-MC.
Hutchinson led R-MC with four goals, while Steph Georgopoulos and Shantel Ackley each had four scores for Buffalo State.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action on Friday when they travel to Lynchburg College for a 7:00 p.m. ODAC tilt.
