Late Run and Double-Doubles from Ariail and Riesbeck Sends R-MC Past Lynchburg 82-66

ASHLAND, VA – No. 24 Randolph-Macon College got double-doubles from Molly Ariail and Lindsay Riesbeck as the Yellow Jackets used a late run to score an 82-66 victory over visiting Lynchburg College Tuesday night in Ashland. R-MC now stands at 17-2 overall and 12-2 in the ODAC, while Lynchburg falls to 12-6 and 9-5 in the league.
Ariail led all players with 25 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, while Riesbeck notched 15 points and 11 boards in the win. Amanda Hiltunen had 12 points and Nicole Childress came off the bench to score 12 points as well in the R-MC win. The Jackets shot 41.8% from the field, making 28-of-67 shots on the night.
LC was paced by Brittany Dahn who scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed 14 boards. Kristina Darby also had a team best 15 points, while Dana Esposito and Kylie Lucas had 14 and 10 points, respectively in the loss.
The Yellow Jackets held a slim 61-60 lead after Esposito drained a three-pointer with 7:26 left in the contest. From that point on, R-MC would finish the game on a 19-6 run to seal the victory. During the run, Ariail scored five points and the Jackets converted 6-of-7 free-throws in the closing minutes.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Friday night when it travels to Virginia Beach, Virginia to take on Virginia Wesleyan College in a key ODAC match up set for 7:00 p.m.
