ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon used a strong second-half to rally past visiting Catholic University 71-63 Tuesday night in Ashland. The Yellow Jackets now stand at 8-0 and are currently ranked 14th in the nation by D3hoops.com, while Catholic slips to 5-5 on the season.
R-MC was paced by Lindsay Riesbeck who had a game-high 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Molly Ariail had 13 points and 10 boards while Marta Merkel hit on 5-of-6 shots from the field on her way to a 15 point night. The Yellow Jackets shot 38.9% from the floor on 21-of-54 shooting from the field and out rebounded CUA by a 47-29 margin.

With the score tied 53-53, Ryan nailed a three-pointer to give the Cardinals a 56-53 lead with just over seven minutes remaining. After a defensive stop, a Kate Robinson free-throw gave CUA a four point advantage at 57-53 with 5:57 left in the game.
R-MC chipped away, tied the game at 59-59 when Riesbeck made a lay up with 4:38 left, and then took the lead when Ariail converted one-of-two free-throws to make the score 60-59 with 3:22 on the clock.
Linderoth made a jumper on CUA’s ensuing possession to put the Cardinals up by one before a Riesbeck bucket on the other end of the floor gave R-MC the lead for good at 62-61 and sparked what turned out to be an 11-2 run to end the game.
