R-MC’s Michelle Kutcher Named ODAC Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year
April Hines Named Second-Team All ODAC ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon senior libero Michelle Kutcher has been named the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year while sophomore April Hines was named Second-Team All-ODAC as the league announced its yearly awards on Monday.
Kutcher, a native of Freedom, Pennsylvania, led the Yellow Jackets with 340 digs, good enough for 4.71 per game. She already holds the R-MC career and single-season digs records. A senior accounting major, Kutcher boasts a 3.99 cumulative grade point average. She is the second straight Yellow Jacket to win volleyball’s scholar-athlete award. Former teammate Mollee Farrell earned the honor last season.
A sophomore middle hitter, Hines led the Yellow Jackets with 231 kills in 92 games this season. Hines also had a team best 99 blocks on the season and 39 service aces. This is the first all league honor for Hines.
The Yellow Jackets finished the season 12-17 overall and advanced to the semifinals of the ODAC Championship before being ousted by eventual champion Washington and Lee.
