Randolph-Macon Volleyball Takes Part in Averett University Tournament
ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon Volleyball team traveled to Danville, Va. over the weekend to take part in the Averett University Volleyball Tournament. R-MC came away with a 1-3 record that puts there record at 9-9 on the season.
R-MC defeated the host Cougars 3-0 in their final match of the tournament. The Yellow Jackets won by game scores of 30-23, 30-22, 30-24 and were paced by 14 kills from Jill Kubichan who also chipped in with 13 digs on the defensive side of the ball. April Hines, Michelle Lindsey and Alix Mcrae all had nine kills in the win while Michelle Kutcher and Lindsey had 21 and 19 digs, respectively.
For her efforts, Kubichan was named to the all-tournament team after posting 23 kills and 54 digs during the weekend.
The Jackets opened up the tournament on Friday with losses to ODAC rival Bridgewater (3-0) and Washington and Lee (3-0). Versus Bridgewater, Lindsey had 11 kills to along with 13 digs, while Kubichan had 21 digs. Against the Generals, Hines led the way with eight kills.
R-MC returns to action on Thursday when it takes on Randolph College at 6:30 p.m. in Ashland.
