Yellow Jackets Softball Win Streak Hits 12 with Sweep of Wesley

ASHLAND, VA — The Randolph-Macon College softball team ran its winning streak to 12 games on Sunday with a doubleheader sweep of Wesley College, winning game one 8-2 and game two 13-0.
In game one, Wesley struck first with a single run in the top-half of the first inning before R-MC (13-3) got a sacrifice fly from Paige Smith to tie the game and Carrie Barchick scored on a wild pitch to put the Jackets up 2-1 after the first inning of play.
With the score 3-2 R-MC in the bottom of the fifth, the Jackets scored five runs to go ahead 8-2 and break the game open.
Christi Wise started for R-MC in the circle and went four innings, allowing just three hits and two runs to even her record at 1-1. Katie Raulerson notched the save for the Jackets after going three innings, allowing just one hit and striking out six.
In the nightcap, the Yellow Jackets scored five runs before Wesley recorded an out in the first inning. Brooke Snyder and Ashley Crouch each drove in pair of runs in the inning which ended with the Jackets up 6-0.
Smith put Randolph-Macon up 9-0 in the second inning when she connected for her ninth homerun of the season that scored Barchick and Morgan Greene.
Katie McCauley closed out the scoring on the day when she delivered a fourth inning grand slam that was her first collegiate hit and homerun.
Becky Clark went the distance for R-MC in the circle, allowing seven hits and striking out three to improve her record to 2-0 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets will look to continue to its streak when it travels to Sweet Briar College on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m. ODAC doubleheader.
