Mary Washington Takes Both Ends of Doubleheader 3-1 from R-MC Softball

ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon College softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to the University of Mary Washington, losing both games by the score of 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Ashland.
UMW (2-0) got a pair of complete games from Kirsten Rowell who surrendered just one run on two hits, while striking out seven in game one. Rowell then came back in the night cap and allowed just one run on two hits and punched out two to pick up the win.
R-MC (1-3) was led offensively by Paige Smith whose homerun accounted for the lone Jacket run in game one and Casey Mauck who delivered a homerun in game two for the only R-MC run.
Christie Wise (0-1) was saddled with the loss in the opener, allowing two runs and walking two. Katie Raulerson went 5.1 innings in relief and allowed four hits. Courtney Brooks (0-1) took the loss in game two after going the distance, allowing five hits and striking out four.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Saturday afternoon when it takes on Dickinson College at 1:30 p.m. in Ashland.
