R-MC Softball Sweeps Mary Baldwin 8-0 and 17-4

ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon College softball team improved to 15-3 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Mary Baldwin College Thursday afternoon in Ashland. The Yellow Jackets won game one 8-0 and game two 17-4. R-MC has now won 14 games in a row.
In game one, R-MC put up five runs in the second inning to jump out to an early lead. Meaghan Mauck singled to open the inning and came around to score on a triple off the bat of Ashley Crouch. Crouch then came home to score to make the score 2-0. Paige Smith and Brooke Snyder provided RBI singles to put R-MC up 4-0 and Carrie Barchick would score on a wild pitch to cap off the inning.
Barchick opened the fourth inning with a single and came around to score on a homerun by Smith that made the score 7-0.
Courtney Brooks got the win in the circle for R-MC, going the distance, scattering three hits and striking out four to improve her record to 6-1 on the season.
In game two, R-MC got a grand slam from Snyder and a solo shot from Crouch in the first inning, staking the Jackets to an early 5-0 advantage.
In the second inning, Smith doubled home Katie Newton and Morgan Greene with the bases loaded, then Snyder followed with a three-run homer to make the score 10-0 in favor of R-MC. Crouch rounded out the scoring in the inning with a solo round tripper to push the Jackets lead to 11-0.
Christi Wise picked up the win for R-MC after allowing three hits in three innings of work to improve her record to 2-1 on the season.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on March 29th when it takes on Maine-Presque Island at 1:30 p.m.
