Bridgewater Takes a Pair of ODAC games From R-MC Softball

ASHLAND, VA – Bridgewater College swept an ODAC doubleheader versus Randolph-Macon College on Saturday as the Eagles won game one 5-4 in 11 innings and took the second game by the score of 6-2.
In game one, Morgan Greene scored from third base on ground out by Brooke Snyder in the top of the 11th to give R-MC (19-7, 2-4 ODAC) a 4-3 advantage.
BC (21-11, 9-5 ODAC) responded by tying the game on a Mallory Sandrige single its half of the 11th. Jennifer Hall then reached on a fielder’s choice and moved to second on Lauren Childress single. Hall scored the winning run as a ball off the bat of Kaitlyn Bowan was misplayed by the Yellow Jackets.
The loss spoiled a gem in the circle from R-MC right-hander Katie Raulerson who went the distance, allowed just two earned runs and struck out nine batters.
In game two, BC’s Becky Schmidt tossed a complete game, allowed just four hits and two runs, while striking out a pair and not issuing a walk.
With the Eagles leading 1-0 in the second inning, Ashley Crouch launched a two run homerun with one out to give R-MC a 2-1 advantage.
Bridgewater tied the game at 2-2 with a single run in the four then scored the decisive four runs in the fifth inning to take the victory.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Sunday when it stays in Harrisonburg to take on Eastern Mennonite University at 1:30 p.m.
