R-MC Men's Soccer Knocks Off Roanoke 2-1
SALEM, VA – The Randolph-Macon College men’s soccer team knocked off Roanoke College 2-1 Wednesday night in Salem, Virginia. R-MC improves its record to 3-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the ODAC. RC falls is 5-3-1 and 2-1-0 in the league.
After Roanoke’s Shaman Douglass put the Maroons up 1-0 just under 11 minutes into the contest, R-MC struck back when Tyler Cornelio beat RC keeper Adam Thompson to knot the score at 1-1.
The Yellow Jackets’ Scott Landholt scored what proved to be the game-winning strike just over four minutes later when he beat Thompson from just inside the 18 yd. marker.
R-MC keeper Jason DePre and the defense made the lead stand up, as DePre made four stops on the night for the Jackets who were out shot 19-5 on the night.
Randolph-Macon will travel to Washington and Lee Saturday afternoon for an ODAC match slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
