Salisbury Uses a Pair of PKs in 2-0 Win over R-MC Men’s Soccer

ASHLAND, VA – A pair of first-half goals on penalty kicks lifted visiting Salisbury University to a 2-0 win over Randolph-Macon College in men’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Sterling got SU’s (6-0-0) fist goal with a PK at 24:13, while Sam Flax capitalized on a penalty kick just over 11 minutes later to make the score 2-0.
Playing a man down for the final 64 minutes of the match, the Sea Gulls had to hold off an R-MC offense that out shot SU 16-10 and held a 5-4 edge in corners.
Greg Wellinghoff made nine saves for Salisbury, collecting the shut out. Matt Rocawhich made two stops in net for the Yellow Jackets.
R-MC is back in action on Wednesday when it welcomes Eastern Mennonite University for a 4:00 p.m. ODAC match in Ashland.
