R-MC Men’s Lacrosse Tops Catholic 11-2

ASHLAND, VA – The Randolph-Macon College men’s lacrosse team got a hat trick from Billy Rowe as it topped visiting Catholic University 11-2 Sunday afternoon in Ashland.
The Jackets (2-2) jumped out of the gate quick, scoring the first four goals of the game. Paul Johnsen and Peter LaPaglia struck first for R-MC, while Rowe scored at the 7:41 mark and again with just four seconds left in the first stanza.
After Kyle Bryant got CUA (1-1) on the board with 8:10 left in the first-half, Rowe struck for his third goal of the day with 1:38 to go in the second quarter and then Rich Wilkens tallied a score with just 30 seconds left in the half to send R-MC to the locker room with a 6-1 advantage.
R-MC pushed it lead to 8-1 with two third quarter goals and LaPaglia scored the first goal of the fourth quarter to make the score 9-1.
The Yellow Jackets out shot the Cardinals 41-23 and held a 34-14 lead in ground balls, while Adam Liberto made 14 saves in the cage for R-MC.
R-MC will be back in action on Saturday at home against Curry College. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
