Washington and Lee Tops R-MC Men’s Lax 14-3

ASHLAND, VA – Washington and Lee University scored a 14-3 ODAC road win over Randolph-Macon College on Saturday behind a hat trick from Will Englehart.
W&L scored eight goals in the first half, while holding the Yellow Jackets to three shots and no goals of their own.
R-MC (5-5 / 1-3 ODAC) came out of the intermission and cut the lead to 8-1 on a Billy Rowe strike with 8:50 to go in the third quarter. After Englehart and Seth Fishman scored back-to-back goals to push the W&L advantage to 10-1, the Jackets scored a pair of their own, getting strikes from Rowe and Peter LaPaglia.
The Generals halted the R-MC momentum with a score from Harry St. John with 24 seconds left in the third to give Washington and Lee an 11-3 advantage.
W&L out shot R-MC 49-16, won 13-of-20 faceoffs, and won the ground ball battle 40-16.
Adam Liberto made 18 saves in 54 minutes of action for the Jackets, while Connor Locke made six saves in 53 minutes of action for Washington & Lee.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Wednesday when it welcomes Virginia Wesleyan to Ashland for a 4:00 p.m. ODAC game.
