R-MC Basketball Stays Perfect on Chilean Tour with a 70-29 Win over Catolica Universidad
CHILE -- Behind a stiffing defense and 17 points from Jordan Brown, R-MC continued its success on its 2008 Friends of Basketball Chilean Tour with a 70-29 victory over Catolica Universidad.
The Jackets defense shined, allowing Catolica to just 11 second half points. The Jackets led at the end of the first quarter 20-12 and then used its defensive play to spark a solid transition game to help open up a sizeable advantage during the final three quarters.
Senior point guard Justin Short fueled the offense with 10 assists in the win. Sophomores Brandon Braxton and Danny Jones continued their strong Chilean play in the paint, with Jones scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds, while Braxton finished with nine points and four boards.
Senior Boris Varela continued his strong play in his native country, scoring nine points and pulling down seven rebounds. Sophomore Kevin Voelkel scored six points and hauled in seven rebounds as well, while Billy Campion added a six points and five-rebounds off the bench for R-MC. Junior Tim Lawrence scored six off the bench for the Lemon and Black as well.
