LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Jordan Brown had 23 points in his second collegiate start as he helped the Randolph-Macon College men’s basketball team to a 78-58 ODAC road victory over host Lynchburg College on Wednesday night.
R-MC, which is now 15-4 overall and 9-3 in ODAC, also got 19 points from junior point guard Justin Short and 10 points from freshman Danny Jones.
R-MC shot 47% in a first-half which saw the Jackets jump out to a 21-8 advantage when Thomas Scheeler knocked down a three-pointer with 8:21 remaining in the first stanza.
The Jackets opened up a 19 point edge at 40-21 when Jeremy Dixon started the second-half with back-to-back buckets. LC managed to cut the R-MC lead to nine points at 59-50 when Brad Puffenbarger drained a three-pointer with 6:35 remaining.
That would be as close as LC would get as the Jackets closed out the game on a 19-8 run which saw Brown score six points and the Jackets convert 10-of-14 free-throws.
LC was led by Mason Wooldridge who had a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds. Steven Echols had 11 points off the bench for the Hornets in a losing effort.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. ODAC home game against Washington and Lee.
