ASHLAND, VA – No. 25 Randolph-Macon College ran its winning streak to 10 games with a 94-68 home ODAC victory over Eastern Mennonite University Wednesday night in Ashland.
The Yellow Jackets (11-2 / 5-1 ODAC) were led by Justin Short who had a team-high 19 points to lead five R-MC players in double figures. Freshman Jordan Brown came off the bench to score 16 points in the win, while Jeremy Dixon and David Carlson each had 14 points and Danny Jones chipped in with a career-high 13 of his own.
Eastern Mennonite (4-7 / 1-4 ODAC) was paced by D.J. Hinson who drained four three pointers on his way to a game-high 22 points on the evening. George Johnson added 10 points for the Royals; while Corey Bailey grabbed a game-high eight boards in the loss.
R-MC jumped out to a quick 14-1 lead when Jones knocked down a three pointer with 13:27 left in the first-half. EMU battled back and cut the lead to 14-12 when Hinson nailed a three with 11:15 remaining.
With R-MC leading 24-23, the Jackets went on a 15-5 run that was capped off by a dunk from Carlson that put his team out in front 39-28 with 2:23 left to go in the opening stanza.
The Yellow Jackets took a 43-30 lead into the locker room at intermission and then opened up the second-half by out scoring the Royals 20-6, taking a commanding 63-36 advantage when Carlson drained a trifecta with 14:15 to go in the game.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Farmville, VA to take on arch rival Hampden-Sydney College at 2:00 p.m.
