Randolph-Macon Tops Eastern Mennonite 82-55 in ODAC Men's Basketball Action

HARRISONBURG, VA -- Randolph-Macon College’s Jordan Brown, Danny Jones and Justin Short each scored 18 points as they helped lead the Yellow Jackets to an 82-55 ODAC road victory at Eastern Mennonite University Wednesday night in men’s basketball action.
R-MC (19-5 / 13-4 ODAC) shot 47.5% for the game from the floor, making 35-of-73 shot attempts in the win. Boris Varela and Jeremy Dixon each grabbed 11 boards to help the Jackets to a 51-41 edge in the rebounding game.
The Yellow Jackets opened the game strong, taking a 20-9 lead when Kevin Voelkel knocked down a jumper half way into the opening period.
R-MC took a 31-22 lead into the locker room before coming out in the second-half and out scoring EMU 19-9 over the first seven minutes of the second stanza.
A Brown three-point play gave R-MC a 52-33 advantage and the Jackets lead would reach as high as 31 when Brandon Braxton converted a three-point play, making the score 82-51 with three minutes to go in the game.
The Royals (8-16 / 4-13 ODAC) were led by George Johnson who had 16 points, while Brad Parkes had 12 for EMU in the loss.
The R-MC defense held Eastern Mennonite to just 28.6% shooing form the floor, only allowing their foes from Harrisonburg to connect on 18-of-63 shot attempts on the night, including just 5-of-22 shooting from three-point range.
Randolph-Macon will close out regular season action on Saturday afternoon when it welcomes arch-rival Hampden-Sydney College to Ashland for a 2:00 p.m. ODAC game.
