Short’s Career-High 34 Lifts R-MC to a 123-97 Victory over Emory & Henry

ASHLAND, VA – Behind a career-high 34 points from Justin Short, the Randolph-Macon College men’s basketball team got back on the winning track on Sunday with a 123-97 ODAC home victory over Emory & Henry College.
Short was one of five R-MC (14-4 / 8-3 ODAC) players in double digits in the win. Jordan Brown scored a career-high 20, while David Carlson had 17 points, Jeremy Dixon had 12 and Danny Jones chipped in with 10. Dixon helped the Jackets win the battle on the glass 51-41 with a career best 17 boards. R-MC shot 64% from the field on 48-of-75 shooting, including 9-of-11 from beyond the three-point arc.
E&H (6-13 / 2-10 ODAC) was led by Camillo Weinz who had a team best 19 points on the afternoon. Other scoring leaders for the Wasps were Robert Hudson (15 points), Antonio Leary (12 points) and Andrew Hart (10 points).
After a back and forth first half, Randolph-Macon headed to the locker room with a 53-48 edge at the break. With the score 68-59 in favor of the Jackets with 15 minutes remaining in the game, R-MC went on a 15-3 run over the next three minutes, taking a 83-62 advantage on a Matt Browna lay up. The Yellow Jackets would pad their lead that reached as much as 32 during the latter stages of the contest.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Wednesday night when it heads to Lynchburg College for a 7:00 p.m. ODAC game.
